Before taking this trip to Kenya , the Lord spoke to the hearts of the team many times through words, pictures, worship and sharing. One of the things that He impressed on our hearts as we waited to hear His heart, in regards to this trip, was that He wanted us to be involved in building an orphanage in Taita Hills.
We did not know the details, nor the exact location, nor how this could be accomplished. But it was clear that this was part of His plan for us. We were invited to Kenya to bring the message of healing. Bishop Dickson had invited us to come and teach healing seminars to the pastors and the people of this area and in Mombasa.
This is a teaching that uncovers the areas of our hearts that block intimacy with the Father. This was a wonderful time of teaching and praying with our new friends. But the Lord was also making it clear to us that there were great needs among the people in our midst. We witnessed the physical needs like food, water, shelter and so very many orphans without parents or a home. The Father was beginning to speak to our hearts about a tangible example of His love to His people in Bura; an orphanage.
Then Bishop Dickson shared his vision for his people, the things that the Lord had placed on his heart for many years. One part of that vision was to see an orphanage in this area for the orphan children. He understood the pain for these children as he, himself had grown up as an orphan. Now we knew that the Lord was confirming what He had already spoken to our hearts.
We were thrilled to give to Bishop Dickson, the gift of money sent with us, to begin the building. Upon our return, the Lord continued to bring people to us who donated money to continue the building. As we watched and prayed, we saw the walls go up, then the roof and finally the completion of the orphanage. What a thrill to watch God perform His word. What a blessing to see our brothers and sisters working with God in Bura to bring this vision to pass. What a wonderful people and what a precious and great God.
But the vision continues as God continues to supply for the water, computer and sound system, the beds and bedding for the orphanage. There is still a need for tables and chairs, equipment for the orphanage, a feeding and planting program, power for the building and as we continue to look to the Lord for His provision, we know He will supply.
