Heartbeat is a cross-denominational, cross-generational ministry that God has raised up to facilitate healing and restoration in the body of Christ through prayer and training.
This ministry was birthed in a move of the Holy Spirit. It began in a prayer meeting where people gathered to wait on the Lord with a desire to hear His heartbeat and come into agreement in prayer. The Lord began to show us our own brokenness in the Body of Christ. Week after week He met us and healed us and began to train us to reach our with His healing to others.
Our goal has never been wholeness but rather intimacy with Christ. Wholeness as a goal will lead us off track and cause us to focus on ourselves. We seek intimacy with Christ that we might walk in His love and give it away. Unhealed areas of our life block this intimacy. Healing takes place as we encounter Christ. Our goal is to first help people to encounter Christ in their areas of brokenness and then to see them equipped to facilitate others.
Heartbeat Ministries is part of the Partners in Harvest network of churches and ministries pursuing renewal and revival under the leadership of John and Carol Arnott, Sr. Pastors of Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship.
In the summer of 1997 the Spirit of God began moving powerfully as a few of us gathered regularly to seek God's heart in prayer. He gave us a definite conviction to pray for the broken and disillusioned in the body of Christ. He began to show us the Gather's heart for His people, His love and mercy, His grave for His people. As we waited on the Lord each week, praying into this area, the Lord began to sovereignly send many others to pray with us. The Lord met with us powerfully, renewing us with His healing presence as we waited on Him to reveal His heart each week, His direction, for each meeting. In 1998, Heartbeat held its first major conference, the Maritime Releasers of Life with Mary Audrey Raycroft. This was the beginning of many other conferences and seminars aimed at equipping the body of Christ to minister with wisdom, grace and integrity. We have continued to meet regularly for times of seeking God's heart in soaking and intercession. The Lord has established healing and equipping ministry through healing encounter seminars and prayer listening workshops.
While our focus and mandate is "intimacy with the Father", these seminars have been vital to help people, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, to move the blockages and/or clutter preventing this from happening.
While we have been thankful for the many opportunities to facilitate healing in our own maritime provinces, we are excited and challenged by the new opportunities to the nations as the Lord opens the doors.
