The Project Joseph Story

Our story begins in 2005 when the Heartbeat team arrived in Bura in pitch dark except for the smiles and excitement coming from those who greeted us with cries of  “Jambo!” and hugs for all. The joy continued right into a celebration that removed all exhaustion from our thoughts, as we watched everyone celebrate the Lord and our safe arrival……and so this love story began!

Their story began with an invitation from Bishop Dickson, who would not take no for an answer…..and though he e-mailed for several years, the Lord continued to encourage him that Heartbeat would come……with a team if Dickson would continue to believe Him.  Dickson’s heart was for us to come to his village and teach ‘healing’ to the hearts of his people. “This”, Dickson promised, “is more important than the healing of aids.” Our people need their hearts healed of bitterness and unforgiveness and those things that are destroying their lives from the inside out.”So together, our story is one of love between God’s peoples’…..a desire to learn from one another, that would span many miles and include many mistakes on both sides. But to learn from our God, how to grow in this walk as we share our hearts with each other .To learn to trust Him and to become like little children in our love and intimacy with Him and in our transparency with one another.
