As Heartbeat Ministries continues to grow and evolve, our mission remains constant: to give a helping hand up to those who need it. Check out our projects below to see Bura’s movement into growth and sustainability!

Children Playing outside Father’s Heart School in Bura, Kenya

The Fathers Heart Primary School

At Heartbeat Ministries, we have the privilege of serving children in Bura. Opened in 2019, the Fathers Heart Primary School is a sanctuary for many children to be able to learn, play, and have the freedom to be a kid. The children that attend this school are funded by our incredible sponsors.

In addition to the pre-primary students, the school has started a Tinies Program for 3 and 4-year-olds who wander the streets, while their parents or grandparents look for food for the day.

Consider sponsoring a child today!

High school Scholarships

For the last 8 years, Heartbeat Ministries has been involved in supporting bright high school students in need from the Bura area. We have seen the fruit of this sponsorship, as education helps these young people to transform their lives and by extension their communities. Beneficiaries of this scholarship opportunity work hard to get the marks that guarantee them a spot in university.

A scholarship of $980 CAD funds a student for a year. These students receive scholarships based on their merit and academic standing. Students are eligible for a renewable scholarship if they maintain excellent academic standing.

Consider sponsoring a high school student and impact not only their life but the livelihoods of their families and communities.

Heartbeat Farm

The Heartbeat Farm is an integral part of Bura and the surrounding communities. It is a place for training, growing, and community. The “Shamba” is a place where many come to trade work for tools, seedlings, or fencing, as well as home to our many agricultural and water projects, bees, fruits and animals.

One of the greatest struggles in this region of Kenya is harvesting water in the rainy season and keeping it during the dry season. Heartbeat has projects like the fish pond, solar water and the water pan to demonstrate different sustainable water farming techniques. Click Here to learn more about The Farm Project.

Medical Clinic

Since the Medical Clinic was built by the government across from the Heartbeat Farm, Heartbeat has continued to support the clinic with supplies, training and even deployed a mission trip in 2020 with doctors and nurses to help urgent demand for the region.

School Donations

Heartbeat doesn’t not only receives donations to support the Fathers Heart school, but for private schools in the surrounding communities. This comes in the form of mattresses, Days for Girls kits, food, etc.

Organic Agriculture Training School

We have a growing school of organic gardening, which teaches important farming and gardening skills specific to the type of barriers and difficulties people face in an area with little space, dry land, and lack of resources. They learn about double dug gardens, as well as key hole gardens, composting and more. To date we have had hundreds of students, and our goal is that everyone will learn how to profitably live off of their shambas.
